Street Chic

"Kinda Classy |  Kinda Hood"

Hello lovely #StyleUnicorns and welcome back to #SmartBlondes! Street fashion is not only inspired by everyday fashion but it comes from the grassroots of communities and still remains affordable. (And most importantly, chic!) The kinda classy, kinda hood motto describes our attitude perfectly (a little bit of sex appeal mixed with a no-nonsense attitude all wrapped up in a classy package.) You have to be that classy career woman and leader of your life yet still be able to represent the hood girl who stays strong willed in her beliefs and opinions. It's an even balance that can be accomplished the more you know yourself :) Dressing mean in the streets seems like it might be challenging but it's easier than you think (mean = fierce, all day everyday.) Follow a few of our guidelines to make your street chic look a reality!

FIND YOUR COLOR PALETTE. Most people find their color palette based on eye color, hair color, skin tone and seasons (fall, winter, spring and summer.) For example, if you're a blonde, blue-eyed beauty your color palette might be spring or summer. And if you're a brunette bombshell, your color palette might be fall or winter. Once you know your colors, those will be your new go-to's in your closet. (Color Me Beautiful does this best.)

LET'S TALK ABOUT YOUR SHAPE. Now that you know your season and the best colors for you,  let's dive head-first into proportion! Your street chic looks should flow and look balanced. If you wear a flowy top or slouchy sweater, pair it with a tight bottom and vise versa!

Lindsey: I paired a more neutral looking, tight top with some distressed skinny jeans (as seen above.) Because these are "tight" items, I added a plaid, long-sleeve-top tied around my waste to add balance to the look! I am a petite woman for sure, so a higher stiletto makes my legs look a little longer and the outfit a little more sleek!  Remember babes: always, always, always rock your size whether you're a 0 or a 12!

HIGHLIGHT ONE PART OF YOUR BODY. When you put together your street chic look, think about what area of your body you want to showcase! Once you've made your decision, it's time to pick the best clothes for your choice. (Here's where that color palette comes in to play.) Let's keep it classy Unicorns! Flaunting all your B's in one look is def a little ratchet (Boobs, Booty, Belly and your Business). You can still rock a kinda hood, kinda classy look while making sure your bits are covered in all the best ways :)

Leslie: So this is the younger 1/2 of #SmartBlondes here (just need to throw in my two cents on this one) This is a fabulous street chic outfit to rock, especially with the high slit up the side that gives it this modern-matrix vibe. However, if you are a chesty babe like myself, be sure to either wear this at night or have some pasties on hand. (There's some ahem blurred out bits.) The fabric is see-through across the chest just from trying to cover all my bits ;) I took my own advice and ended up wearing it out that night with strategically placed hair... Now that the low down has been given, check out the last tip below. (PS the high slit in my top is to die for and by all means my favorite part of the whole outfit.)

TIME TO SHOP TIL YOU DROP. This is the fun part! Time to take what you learned and apply it! Get your shop on, ladies and stock your closets with the basics! A fitted blazer, a pair of skinny jeans for your body type in a dark wash, black leggings/tights, a skirt (they always flatter your shape) and loose fitting v-neck tops. Those are just a few examples!
